Today is World Water Day – an annual UN observance day that raises awareness of the 2 billion people living without access to safe water. Right now, 1 in 4 people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water, and we are seriously off track to meet the Sustainable Development Goal to have clean water and sanitation for all by 2030. This year, the theme is 'accelerating change', considering this as an opportunity for us all to take action and make a difference.
How to get involved
Visit UN-Water to make a list of your personal commitments to help solve the water and sanitation crisis. From taking part in local river clean ups to opting for shorter showers or buying local food products, there are so many ways you, your family, and your local community can get involved. Your commitments will be added to the Water Action Agenda, to be launched at the UN 2023 Water Conference – the first event of its kind for nearly 50 years, and a once-in-a-generation moment for the world to unite around water.
How We Can Help
As a member of 1% for the planet, we pledge to donate 1% of our annual sales to fund eco-friendly, earth-conscious causes and organisations around the globe. By shopping with A LITTLE FIND, you can guarantee that part of your spend goes straight back to making this world a better place to live – including keeping Seawilding and Surfers Against Sewage.
Seawilding is the UK's first community-led native oyster and seagrass restoration project. Their aim is to restore lost biodiversity, sequester carbon, and to create green jobs. They are pioneers of low-cost, best-practice marine habitat restoration methodologies, and work to empower other coastal communities to do the same.
Surfers Against Sewage are a marine conservation charity working with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life. Established in 1990 by a group of surfers from the north coast of Cornwall, their goals involve campaigning for better water quality, ocean recovery and an end to plastic pollution of UL beaches by 2030.
