Hair Care Straight Out Of The Amazon beauty
The Story
Fabian Lliguin, a renowned hairstylist in NYC, was visiting the Amazon rainforest as an environmentalist, educating indigenous people about their land and human rights when he saw he was surrounded by women with fantastically long, lustrous hair that cascaded past their waists.
And the secret?
The women told Fabian it was rahua oil. Which, for centuries the members of the tribe, who live deep within the rainforest, had relied on to nourish their hair and skin.
Fabian knew he had something very special on his hands and knew too that he needed to handle it with respect. Rahua oil was - and is still - produced by the Quechua-Shuar tribe in the same complex, ritualistic, and sustainable fashion it has been for generations!
Today, more than 500 families from the Quechua-Shuar, Achuar, and neighboring tribes work with Fabian and Anna - Fabian's wife and business partner - to cultivate the rainforest grown ingredients used in the Rahua hair care and body care collections.
Clean, Effective & Sustainable
Rahua created a new cosmetic category that transcends organic and fair trade, called Symbiotic, which means ingredients are grown wild (not farmed) in the virgin rainforest, are hand processed through ancestral knowledge and the makers are paid an above fair-trade price to build economies and strengthen the position of the Indigenous People.
By doing this, Rahua has helped them create a healthy self-sustained economy which encourages them to continue living in the Amazon utilising their special traditions and ultimately being the guardians and protectors of the Rainforest.
The plastic product packaging used is 100% recyclable; recycled worldwide and reused to make everything from park benches, designer carpets, clothing and lots more.
All Rahua products are made with Organic, Natural, Pure Plant Derived Ingredients. These plant based products are Symbiotic®, Vegan, Non-toxic and Free of Parabens, Silicons, Sulfates and Gluten.
Sorry to keep going on but how amazing does this brand sound and we haven't even gotten to how good the products are?!
