MEET THE FOUNDER OF EPONINE LONDON Female Founders
MEET JET SHENKMAN
Founder & Creative Director of EPONINE LONDON
How would you describe your brand or mission? What was your motivation?
I started Eponine in 2010 because I felt there was a real gap in the market for women who were struggling to find pieces to wear that were both elegant, age appropriate, individual from what was generally available. As I was getting older, I started the brand when I turned 50, I realised that if I felt like that surely others would struggle to find these kind of pieces too. I had worked as a freelance stylist when we lived in Japan and Hong Kong so I had a good idea of all the different dilemmas women face (especially as our bodies start to change when we age).
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced?
The biggest challenge we faced was growing the brand from a tiny basement studio working mainly for friends to an established small couture studio in our current space in Adam and Eve Mews
What are you most proud of?
When the Duchess of Cambridge discovered Eponine and wore one of our pieces, it was such a vote of confidence and a turning point for Eponine
What projects are you working on at the moment?
At the moment we are working on the new couture collection and also developing a new RTW collection.
Could you pick one small change for everyone to make to live more sustainably?
Recycle, recycle, recycle (actually, buy less and better!)
What book is top of your “must-read” list?
The Choice by Edith Eger
What is your LITTLE FIND? (Favourite product on A LITTLE FIND)
Mandarin and Geranium Hand & Body Wash, from Savon Stories.
