MEET THE FINDER: Fabian Lliguin Co-Founder of Rahua interview

Combining pure, plant-derived ingredients from the heart of the Amazonian rainforest, rahua is the nut that is the core of this brand. This ethical line of transformative hair care is also a philanthropic mission - dedicated to preserving the Amazon rainforest, supporting indigenous tribes and sustaining the rainforest's eco-system - so you can have clean hair with a clean conscience.

  • Tell us about your brand and how you came about?

F: Rahua® (pronounced Ra-Wa) from Amazon Beauty Inc. is a hair and body care line created with organic, plant-derived Amazonian ingredients that deliver superior results. Rahua connects our customers to nature by providing organic, plant-based, non-toxic clean beauty products while helping the Amazon inhabitants create a healthy self-sustained economy. My wife and business partner, Anna Ayers, are cofounders of Ecoagents®, a non-profit organization whose mission to preserve the natural environment of the Amazon Rainforest and the people that live there. The discovery of the rare Rahua oil took place on an environmental mission when I was introduced to Amazonian women who attributed Rahua to their extraordinary long hair. As a hairdresser by trade, I took it back to New York and when I used it on salon customers with dry, damaged hair, I was amazed at the results. The introduction of the Rahua oil served as our method to channel the mission’s work in helping the Amazon tribes sustain their environment and create their local economies.  

  • What’s your biggest goal as a brand?

F: Our biggest goal is communicating to the world the importance of using and embracing natural, sustainable ingredients that are healthy for them, healthy for our environment and healthy for the future of our planet.  

    • Tell us your favourite quote, mantra or best piece of advice

    • Tell us your proudest moment as a business  

    F: I have so many proud moments in business. The birth of every new product makes me proud. Every new retailer that embraces our products makes me feel proud. I really can’t choose just one.

    • Who is your hero?

    F: Anna Ayers, my life and business partner.

    • What is your A LITTLE FIND?

    F: I love all Rahua products!  Rahua shampoos and conditioners are created in categories for specific needs and I would say that our Classic Shampoo and Conditioner, created for normal hair types, is the one I gravitate towards the most. The Palo Santo preservative system makes it particularly great for balanced scalp health which helps promote hair growth. But also, I regularly use Legendary Amazon Oil.

    • What's your favourite place to hideaway?

    F: My upstate farm.

    • Where are you going on holiday this year?

    F: The Galapagos islands, and I want a dry suit to go scuba diving in which will help me clean the ocean a little easier.

    • What three items do you never travel without? 

    F: A cell phone for photos, Aviator sunglasses, and Rahua Shower Gel.

    • What's your biggest dream? 

    F: To one day see the Amazon Rainforest saved for perpetuity with all its life and oxygen.
