Describe your brand in one sentence?
We are a shoe care brand that focuses on innovation, considered design, quality and user experience.

What was the catalyst for starting your brand?
I started Jason Markk in 2007. At that time, I couldn’t find a shoe care product that I trusted to use on my own shoes, so I made my own.

What sets you apart from other brands in your category?
Although our brand is rooted in sneaker culture, our ethos has always been based around care, maintenance, and preservation. Whether it be trainers or other valued things in your life… If you take care of your belongings, they’ll take care of you.

If everyone on the planet started using your brand tomorrow, how would the world be a better place?
We are a brand that has always considered the impact our products have on planet earth. For example, our cleaning solutions do not contain any harsh chemicals or abrasives and are completely biodegradable. However, there is more work to be done and we are continuously taking steps to lessen our impact.

Describe your long-term mission in one sentence?
To encourage a lifelong practice of care, maintenance and preservation of one’s belongings.

What steps have you taken to curb your own consumer behaviour?
As a family, we do our best to source our food from our local farmers markets, we compost daily, and support small businesses within our local community as much as possible.

What is your biggest environmental pet peeve? (e.g. not recycle, the use of styrofoam/single-use plastic, etc.)
Food waste on a commercial scale.

What is your best little find?
I’m always on the lookout for vintage cast iron pans.

What is your proudest moment as a business?
It would have to be between the opening of our first flagship store in 2014 and officially partnering with Nike last year.
