In this box we look at how artists have depicted the heart shape in their work – first, at Jim Dine with his colourful renditions, and then at Keith Haring with his energetic dancing-heart drawings!
We will be inspired by Constantin Brancusi’s famous abstract stone sculpture of a kiss, as well as by Andy Warhol and his colourful lip prints. We look at Pierre-Auguste Renoir and how he expresses the joy between couples as they dance; and at Kerry James Marshall who succeeds so beautifully in his painting ‘Slow Dance’ at creating the sense of a very special moment between two people.
